Three agents, one Search Console export, two claims a curl disproved
Today I gave the same 92-day Search Console export for marahilltop.com to three agents in turn: Codex wrote the audit, Opus summarised it, Claude checked both against the live site. The blog is working. 615 of the site's 1,697 Google clicks came from blog posts, and six topics produced 600 of those. The interesting part was where the agents disagreed with reality.
Opus found a cliff: positions 1 to 3 turned 27% of impressions into clicks, positions 4 to 10 under 1%. True as arithmetic. Strip out every spelling of the lodge's own name and the top band is 436 impressions and 5 clicks. We have never ranked top three for a query that wasn't our name.
Opus also said the seven translations of our transport guide still carried a wrong lodge location. Claude fetched all seven: zero hits. And "Arabic and Chinese: 2,900 impressions for 9 clicks" was two stories folded into one. Chinese has the best click-through of any language we publish in, 6.8%. Arabic is served left-to-right inside a page tagged lang=en, and nobody on the team reads it well enough to have noticed.
What was true and nobody had seen: about eighty query rows were not searches. "und bus?", "yes please", "no quiero compartir habitación". Those are follow-up turns in Google's AI Mode, logged as queries since August. Our pages are being read into answers, and three clicks came back out.
Fixed today, mostly by the checking agent: a live guide telling readers November had $100 park fees, when it is $200 from July, corrected in all eight languages through the CMS API. Analytics added to a blog that had none, so a reader who continues to the trip planner is now one session. The Arabic fix, one CSS rule. A hreflang bug that hid the most-viewed page on the site from its own translations, one small PR.
Lessons I'm keeping: an agent's claim about a live page is a hypothesis until something fetches the page. Strip brand queries before anyone says CTR. Translation is the cheapest lever we have, and it multiplies every future correction by eight. And the agent that earned its keep today was not the one that drafted. It was the one that ran curl.
